On a green peninsula overlooking scenic Lake Demontreville, this narrow property long sat teeming with potential. The owners had been working with an architect for over two years, but the architect’s slow progress and failure to understand their vision motivated them to seek help from our team.
The project called for the demolition of an existing house, followed by the design and construction of a new 2100 sf., two-story home. Aiming for the feel of a cozy east coast cottage, the owners desired a design that would express their understated yet romantic personal style.
Our approach was to put a unique twist on simplicity, embracing rich materials balanced by restrained architecture. The aesthetic palette comprised crisp black and white, contrasted by rustic wood finishes and classic motifs. An open concept maximized the space, making it a warm environment that encourages connections with family and visitors. From west to east, the home’s open axis allows for fresh air off the water to sweep through the home when doors are open on both sides.
An emphasis on the natural gave the home a strong connection to the outdoors. Our design optimized views of the lake, and variance approval for an adjusted setback allowed the house to be built just a few steps from the waterline.
The timeless design of this breathtaking abode makes it the investment of a lifetime. Forever stylish and welcoming, this home now provides its owners with the peaceful lifestyle they’ve long awaited.

Coastal Clarity: Envisioning an Airy Lakeside Home
Even the most wayward projects can have a happy ending. A desperate family recruited BPC for a rescue mission of the highest order. After struggling to make headway with their previous architect, the owners of a picturesque lakeside property needed a dedicated team to help them realize their vision of a familial destination.
Their dream was simple yet ambitious: to build a sprawling home that could serve as the perfect getaway for their family and friends. As the walls of the original architect’s layout had already been framed in, our challenge was to realign the design with the homeowners’ goals, within the existing constraints.
This was no small feat for an 8,000 sq. ft. home. Our work included re-selecting exterior materials, improving the floor plan’s functionality, and creating an aesthetic woven between Cape Cod and French Country styles. One of the priorities was optimizing the home’s view of the water, enabling the light, aromas, and essence of the lake to permeate the interior. We achieved this by designing the home’s lake-facing exterior to consist almost fully of glass.
Throughout the home’s eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, two kitchens, and other rooms, thoughtful design makes these spaces feel wholesome and comforting. Elements include subtle details such as stone tiling and varied wood panelling, along with showstoppers like a grand fireplace whose stone mantle reaches all the way up to a vaulted ceiling.
Now, on a clear, calm night, this home’s reflection can be seen dancing upon the waters of Lake Okoboji. This home stands as a invitation, beckoning guests to come enjoy its sweeping scenery and welcoming spirit.

Residential Revitalization: Transforming a Historic Home into a Serene Retreat
Tucked away in one of Stillwater’s most desirable neighborhoods, we found a venerable home whose potential remained unseen. Originally built in 1873, the house had endured many alterations over the past century and a half, but its beauty was still hidden by darkness, dated decor, and cramped additions.
The new homeowners turned to BPC to breathe life into the abode through a major renovation. Our team drafted a new vision for the home’s revitalization, one that transformed it into a bright, flowing space whose aesthetic would stand the test of time. We embraced the dwelling’s heritage by matching historic motifs with new, and implementing classic design that exuded an essence of the past.
During the renovation process, we uncovered original wood studs and siding within the walls. We salvaged these rustic woods and used them to construct a one-of-a-kind dining table. This unforgettable furnishing now serves as the centerpiece of the home, finding purpose as an heirloom for its newest inhabitants.
