Creating a Cozy Escape
On a green peninsula overlooking scenic Lake Demontreville, this narrow property long sat teeming with potential. The owners had been working with an architect for over two years, but the architect’s slow progress and failure to understand their vision motivated them to seek help from our team.
The project called for the demolition of an existing house, followed by the design and construction of a new 2100 sf., two-story home. Aiming for the feel of a cozy east coast cottage, the owners desired a design that would express their understated yet romantic personal style.
Our approach was to put a unique twist on simplicity, embracing rich materials balanced by restrained architecture. The aesthetic palette comprised crisp black and white, contrasted by rustic wood finishes and classic motifs. An open concept maximized the space, making it a warm environment that encourages connections with family and visitors. From west to east, the home’s open axis allows for fresh air off the water to sweep through the home when doors are open on both sides.
An emphasis on the natural gave the home a strong connection to the outdoors. Our design optimized views of the lake, and variance approval for an adjusted setback allowed the house to be built just a few steps from the waterline.
The timeless design of this breathtaking abode makes it the investment of a lifetime. Forever stylish and welcoming, this home now provides its owners with the peaceful lifestyle they’ve long awaited.
